Beijing Wildlife Park is in Yufa, in southern Daxing District. Plan it as a separate day out: the park combines a drive-through safari, a predator route and an extensive walking area. Red pandas, capybaras and rides past larger animals are particular draws. For families, it can provide a welcome break between palaces and temples. On a short itinerary without a strong interest in animals, it is an optional use of a full day.
Understand the transport choices before you arrive. The safari route is accessible in your own car with an additional vehicle pass, or on the small train included with admission. Special park vehicles serve the predator zone; that is a separate ride with its own queue. Electric carts and transport around the walking area cost extra. Visitors enjoy the close views, greenery and balance between riding and walking. Opinions about animal welfare are mixed: praise for the grounds appears alongside specific complaints about cramped exhibits, excessive feeding and visitors disturbing animals. This is a zoo experience, rather than wildlife watching in a natural habitat.
Queues are the main practical drawback. Even on summer weekdays in 2026, visitors reported roughly 70 minutes for the train and two and a half hours for the predator ride, while other visits involved much shorter waits. Older and newer accounts repeat the same pattern: arriving early helps without guaranteeing a short queue. Choose your priority ride and start there. With a young child, leave time for breaks and walking exhibits instead of trying to complete everything. Allow six to eight hours inside plus travel, and budget for meals, transport and any permitted feeding activities. An extra layer is useful on the open train in autumn. Some visitors have found English animal information and food menus, but do not assume every commentary is bilingual.
The published tariff is CNY 150 for adults, CNY 90 for child/student tickets and an additional CNY 200 vehicle pass; concessions depend on eligibility and documents. Children up to and including one metre enter free, limited to one per paying accompanying visitor. Overseas study is excluded from the student category, and the senior concession requires a local card. Check the entry procedure for your travel document when booking. Do not bring animal feed: the operator prohibits it and separately bans feeding on the drive-through route. Stay inside the vehicle and do not lean out. From central Beijing, take metro line 4 to Tiangong Yuan, then bus 940 to Donghulin and walk about 600 metres; plan your return beforehand. Published park hours are 08:30–17:30 in April–October and 09:00–17:00 in November–March, with ticket sales and individual rides ending earlier.
