Some adults find the explanations elementary and parts of the presentation dated. Free admission still needs planning. Reserve the permanent collection through the official website or museum WeChat account three days ahead; availability refreshes at 11:00 Beijing time. Children and older visitors also need reservations. Choose an available admission window and arrive within it: the rules say late arrivals outside their window will be refused. After booking successfully, foreign visitors must bring their original passport to the ticket window. Tianqiao station on metro line 8 is a practical approach; parking is a recurring complaint. A weekday morning may be calmer, although school groups also arrive on weekdays. Visitors say the lower rooms are easy to miss and mention aquariums and human-anatomy displays there. The skeleton galleries and the separate paid dinosaur experience are different visits. The renovated Dinosaur Park reopened in June 2026 with immersive effects and moving seats; check its own tickets and restrictions through the museum’s official channel. Older descriptions of freely accessible mechanical dinosaurs no longer describe the complete current format. Temporary exhibitions may also cost extra. Secure the main collection reservation first, then decide whether the additional experiences suit your group. Leave enough time for the Temple of Heaven instead of squeezing its grounds into a rushed remainder of the day.
