Where Beixinqiao Is (and why location matters)
Beixinqiao is the heart of “cool hutong Beijing” — historic, walkable, full of indie cafés, bars, boutiques, hostels, and creative spaces. It sits perfectly between the Lama Temple, Wudaoying Hutong, and Dongzhimen.
If you want hipster Beijing + real hutong life + central location, this is it. Beixinqiao is just east of the Drum Tower and south of the Lama Temple, forming the transition zone between:
Wudaoying Hutong (design cafés, boutique shops)
Guozijian / Temple of Confucius
Lama Temple (Yonghegong)
Dongzhimen (airport express, big transit hub)
Gulou / Houhai (nightlife and classic hutongs)
It is essentially the nexus point of all northern Old Beijing attractions. Superb for walking — this is hutong territory with hundreds of small lanes.

If you dislike hutongs (narrow lanes, scooters, old houses), this area is not for you.
Overall: excellent for young travelers, couples, culture lovers, foodies.
