Huacheng Square is a long green promenade among the skyscrapers of Zhujiang New Town, looking across the river towards Canton Tower. Visitors particularly praise its evening lights and the chance to combine a walk with the Opera House, Library and Guangdong Museum; the main drawbacks are crowds at popular photo spots and considerable walking distances.

Guangzhou Library’s two inclined wings meet around a tall glass atrium, while the layered façades resemble stacks of books. Visitors praise the space, reading rooms and free access: it is a rewarding place to see a public institution in everyday use, although weekends can be noisy and available seats hard to find.

Three rounded buildings at Tengyun Center appear to float above the walking areas of Tencent’s new Shenzhen campus. Completed by MAD Architects in 2026, the complex raises its main volumes 8.6 metres above ground, leaving passages, landscaped spaces and views towards the bay below.
