The British Anglican Community Building is one of Qingdao's notable historic buildings. A German architect originally built it in the early 1900s. In the 1930s the Russian architect Mikhail Yukhotsky substantially altered and rebuilt it. Unlike the resort villas and private residences nearby, it was designed from the start for public use.
The architecture is restrained and symmetrical:
- a light facade with textured plaster
- granite corners and plinth
- a flat roof
It is an interesting contrast to the more decorative German-era buildings around it.
Treat it as a short stop on an old-town walk and view it from the outside. Our data contain no information on interior access, opening hours or the exact address. Check its location on a map app before you go. Five to fifteen minutes is enough for a look and a few photos.
