The upper station of the funicular in the Yangkou area of Laoshan is both a viewpoint and a starting point. From here you see the sea and the jagged granite peaks, and trails lead on toward scenic summits, the most notable being Lion Peak (Shizi Feng), roughly 440 m high.
The landscape is most impressive at sunrise and sunset, when the mountains and coastline turn golden. Also here is the Yangkou Guandi Temple, dedicated to Guandi, the god of war revered in the Taoist tradition, and one of the oldest shrines along this coast.
Practical advice: combine the station with a walk toward Lion Peak and a stop at the temple; allow about 1.5 hours, more if you hike further. Wear proper shoes for rocky trails and bring water. If you want the golden light, time your ride up for early morning or late afternoon, and check the funicular's last run before staying for sunset, as our data do not include its schedule or fare.
