The Temple of Heaven (天坛, Tiāntán) is a sprawling Ming-era imperial complex in Beijing where Ming and Qing emperors offered sacrifices to Heaven and prayed for bountiful harvests. Its iconic structures include the round, triple-gabled Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the Echo Wall and the Circular Mound Altar, all set within a vast 273-hectare park representing the ancient concept that “heaven is round and earth is square”. Tiananmen Square in Beijing is one of the world’s largest public squares and a symbolic heart of modern China. Beijing Zoo is one of China's oldest and largest zoos, founded in 1906, located in Xicheng District. The main attraction is the Giant Panda Pavilion, home to several pandas including popular ones like Menglan. The zoo houses approximately 5,000 animals from 450 species across a large, park-like area. While the pandas are the highlight and draw massive crowds, many visitors express serious concerns about animal welfare conditions, with outdated enclosures and small cages for elephants, polar bears, and wolves.
